Registration is now open for the Biddeford Recreation Travel Basketball 2025-2026 Season!
This program is open to basketball players in Grades 3-4 & 5-6. This season, our program will participate in the Southern Maine Hoops League. The league has options of divisions that include single grades and combined grades.
For parents, as you determine which basketball program level is best suited for your child, please consider the following:
The Travel Basketball program is designed for athletes who would like to play in a more competitive league in the Southern Maine area.
Players trying out for travel should have prior experience in recreation or travel basketball.
Travel Basketball includes an evaluation process - see details below. All players interested in playing on a Biddeford Recreation Travel Team are required to attend the evaluation night.
Participants that do not make a travel team will be automatically placed on a recreational team. We have basketball opportunities for everyone and every ability level!
Evaluations for 2025-2026 Season
Evaluation Date: Monday, November 3, 2025
Evaluation Times by Division:
3/4 Girls and Boys divisions: 4:30PM
5/6 Boys: 5:30PM
5/6 Girls: 6:30PM
Evaluation fee: $65.00 (will be applied to team fee)

The last day for travel evaluation registration is Sunday, November 2nd, 2025.
Travel Basketball Program Information for the 2025-2026 season
- Players must be a resident of Biddeford or a student at one of the city's schools.
- Players that do not make the travel team will be placed on an internal recreation team; evaluation fees will be applied.
- The season dates will run from November 2025 through February 2026.
- Travel teams will practice 2 times a week. Practice times will depend on gym availability and coaches' availability.
- Games will be played on weekends at various locations throughout southern Maine.
- Transportation will be the responsibility of the players’ family.
- Volunteer coaches will be needed. We need at least one coach in place for every team. Coaches should have some prior experience coaching youth basketball (rec or travel) or knowledge of the sport.
Registration fee for 2025-2026 season
- Season fee: $175.00 for residents; non-residents are not eligible to participate in this program.
- Season fee includes: cost for referees, uniforms, mid-season tournaments, shooting shirts, and any other expense that goes with playing in this league.
- $65.00 is due at registration when signing up for evaluations
- The remaining balance of $110.00 is due upon team placement.
- No refunds will be available for anyone that is assigned to a team but quits after teams have been announced.
- Team Fee Payment Plans: Families requesting payment plans or extensions may email Deputy Recreation Director, Erika Dube at erika.dube@biddefordmaine.org to discuss options. Requests must be made by Monday, November 3rd, 2025. All payment plans must be completed by January 16, 2026.
- Team Fee Scholarships: Travel Basketball Team Fees are also eligible for scholarships if you are a Biddeford resident. For this season, the maximum scholarship value is 50%; scholarship eligibility will be evaluated and your discount will be determined by application materials submitted. Families may submit a scholarship request form. If the Department has a current form on file that was submitted in the last year and there are no changes, please email your scholarship request to Recreation Director, Lisa Thompson at lisa.thompson@biddefordmaine.org. The deadline to request a scholarship is Monday, November 3rd, 2025.
