Biddeford Recreation is excited to announce that we have been selected as a WinterKids Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund grant nominee in the Parks and Recreation division for 2024!We need your help! Community voting is now open online and is available through July 31st. Winners will be selected in early August and the finalists in each category will be determined by votes with awards ranging from $1,000-$5,000 to support outdoor recreation locally!Vote here: WinterKids Downhill 24 Outdoor FundHow will this grant support our community? The Biddeford Recreation Department provides programs that promote social and physical well-being, as well as spaces for the public to engage in healthy lifestyle choices. Looking to expand our programs in outdoor recreation, this funding would help off-set the rising cost of ski programming to make this sport more accessible to children in our community of all socioeconomic backgrounds. Portions of the funding would also be used to acquire additional equipment such as paddleboards, kayaks, and lifejackets to allow more children to participate in water programming during the summer season. This is a great opportunity to increase access to outdoor recreation in every season!During the voting process, you can learn about all the nominees and may vote for one nominee in the three categories of Public Schools, Parks & Rec, and Non-Profits.
