  • Camp Update

To all of our Biddeford Recreation Family & Friends,

On behalf of the Biddeford Recreation Department, we are writing to share the difficult news that Biddeford Recreation will be suspending all summer day camps, including Safari Camp, OSB, and our CIT program, for the 2020 summer season.

This has not come as an easy decision for our department. In an effort to do all we could to open for the summer, the staff of the Recreation Department have had countless hours of conversations with each other, city officials, the school department, health organizations, and other summer camp professionals to determine the best course of action. In light of the Maine summer camp COVID-19 protocols that were released May 20th, we came to the conclusion that our model of day camps would not be a positive experience and able to provide the enriching experience for campers that we have had in the past.

While we are disheartened to share this news, we are optimistic in regards to new family and youth programs we will be offering this summer to benefit our community and encourage the social distancing guidelines set by the Maine CDC.

The Biddeford Recreation Department would like to thank all the families that utilize our programs for your patience. We know that this has been a difficult time for all involved. We hope that this letter finds you and your family well, and hope to see you and your family during one of our summer program opportunities.

If you have any other questions or concerns in regards to this, please send us an e-mail at

    Warm Regards,
    Biddeford Recreation Department
