The rules are fairly simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a fast-paced, competitive game. Beginners are welcome to join us and learn the game!! Please contact the coordinator  for additional program information, 283-0841 Send an email inquiry. Whats it all about?The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer smaller version of a wiffle ball. It can be played by 2 or 4 players.

10:45 AM - 11:45 AM	Gentle Yoga - Gentle Yoga January-June 2025 Biddeford Recreation is excited to offer our newest Yoga class: Gentle Yoga!  Gentle Yoga is a perfect practice for anyone of any age or physical ability. You may find yourself flowing from pose to pose or staying in a pose for a longer amount of time. Without a doubt you’ll be stretching, breathing and feeling rejuvenated. Instructor for this class is Jana Gudschinsky.  Jana is an experienced yoga teacher with over 12 years of teaching a variety of Yoga classes.  Jana is passionate about helping her students to find balance in their practice and her classes are known to be challenging and supportive.

4:30 PM - 5:30 PM	Yin Yang Yoga - Yin Yang Yoga Yin/Yang Yoga is a practice that balances a slow paced Yin with a traditional Hatha Yoga. Yin is a passive cooling energy, whereas Yang is more dynamic and warming. This is a 1 hour class. We will start in Yang for warming up our body and releasing energy, then we will make our way to a more calming practice in Yin. 11:15 AM - 2:30 PM	UNE Lecture: War on the Environment - War on the Environment Biddeford Recreation is excited to work with UNE and offer a unique FREE opportunity for our BOLDER program. We will be taking a trip to UNE's Harold Alfond Forum. There will be a reception to start with finger foods and drinks followed by a lecture called "War on the Environment".In this lecture, Professor Malavisi will ponder the futility of war, arguing that the industry of war through the centuries has contributed to our current climate crisis. To address the crisis, she will argue, we must better understand the impact war has and has had on the environment, and challenge a current political ideology that too easily justifies the waging of war as the only solution to conflict.? Many will say that humanity has always engaged in war, so it’s futile to think we could ever abolish it. But this lecture will challenge that notion to the extent that, too often, countries resort to war without considering other alternatives, such as non-violent ones. The fact that war itself is a major contributor to the climate crisis should be reason enough for nation-states to rethink strategies of protection, security, and related matters. This talk will further the analysis by offering a historical and theoretical perspective on war, then move to a contemporary perspective arguing that the dominant political ideology turns to war too easily. The league has options of divisions that include single grades and combined grades. For parents, as you determine which basketball program level is best suited for your child, please consider the following: The Travel Basketball program is designed for athletes who would like to play in a more competitive league in the Southern Maine area.Players trying out for travel should have prior experience in recreation or travel basketball.Travel Basketball includes an evaluation process - see details below.  All players interested in playing on a Biddeford Recreation Travel Team are required to attend the evaluation night. You may find yourself flowing from pose to pose or staying in a pose for a longer amount of time. Without a doubt you’ll be stretching, breathing and feeling rejuvenated. Instructor for this class is Jana Gudschinsky.  Jana is an experienced yoga teacher with over 12 years of teaching a variety of Yoga classes.  Jana is passionate about helping her students to find balance in their practice and her classes are known to be challenging and supportive.

4:30 PM - 5:30 PM	Yin Yang Yoga - Yin Yang Yoga Yin/Yang Yoga is a practice that balances a slow paced Yin with a traditional Hatha Yoga. Yin is a passive cooling energy, whereas Yang is more dynamic and warming. This is a 1 hour class. We will start in Yang for warming up our body and releasing energy, then we will make our way to a more calming practice in Yin. You may find yourself flowing from pose to pose or staying in a pose for a longer amount of time. Without a doubt you’ll be stretching, breathing and feeling rejuvenated. Instructor for this class is Jana Gudschinsky.  Jana is an experienced yoga teacher with over 12 years of teaching a variety of Yoga classes.  Jana is passionate about helping her students to find balance in their practice and her classes are known to be challenging and supportive.

4:30 PM - 5:30 PM	Yin Yang Yoga - Yin Yang Yoga Yin/Yang Yoga is a practice that balances a slow paced Yin with a traditional Hatha Yoga. Yin is a passive cooling energy, whereas Yang is more dynamic and warming. This is a 1 hour class. We will start in Yang for warming up our body and releasing energy, then we will make our way to a more calming practice in Yin. 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM	Yin Yang Yoga - Yin Yang Yoga Yin/Yang Yoga is a practice that balances a slow paced Yin with a traditional Hatha Yoga. Yin is a passive cooling energy, whereas Yang is more dynamic and warming. This is a 1 hour class. We will start in Yang for warming up our body and releasing energy, then we will make our way to a more calming practice in Yin. Parking and access to the start/finish line on the Eastern Trail is available in the SMMC parking lot (Medical Center Drive, Biddeford, 04005). Registration through the parkrun website is required. 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM	March Madness Floor Hockey - Floor Hockey Spring 2025: Grades 1&2 Join us this March for our newest youth sport program: Floor Hockey!  Shake off the last of the cold winter season with a month of fun experiencing the sport of floor hockey.  Learn the rules, basic skills and drills, and for our older division in grades 3-5, experience a mini tournament at the end of the session.Offering sessions for Grades 1&2 and Grades 3-5.  Sign-ups in each division are limited so don’t wait to register!
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM	Maine Ultimate Free Play Days - Free Play Days: Grades 3rd - 5th Maine Ultimate and Biddeford Recreation have teamed up to offer a FREE Youth Ultimate Frisbee Program in spring 2025! Ultimate frisbee has the fast-paced movement of soccer, paired with the aerial excitement of football! Players will learn throwing, catching, basic strategy, and of course, Spirit of the Game! "A truly unique and defining element of ultimate, Spirit of the Game places the responsibility of fair play solely on the athletes themselves by requiring each player to know the rules and make their own calls, without the help of a neutral official. These underlying principles reinforce mutual respect and trust between opponents; communication and conflict resolution skills; and self confidence – both on and off the field of play." No experience necessary!  Players should wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. Don't forget a water bottle! All players receive a FREE disc to keep!
